Privacy
Trafixcast has no accounts and no logins. We do not ask who you are.
What we do with what you enter
- The start and end you choose, your vehicle details and your time window are sent to our server only to work out your estimate. We do not save them against your name or keep a history of your trips.
- If you pick an area, it is the area's centre that is used. If you drop an exact pin, the pin is rounded to about 100 metres before it is used.
- "Use my location" on the area picker is matched to the nearest area inside your browser. Your GPS position is not sent to us. If you use it to place an exact pin, that pin is sent as described above.
- Our server may keep ordinary technical records (your IP address and the pages requested) for a short time to keep the service secure and to stop abuse.
Services that receive some data
- TomTom receives the start and end points (rounded as above) and the departure time to predict traffic.
- Open-Meteo receives an approximate location (about 1 km) to forecast rain and temperature.
- OpenStreetMap serves the map pictures, so it sees your IP address when the map is shown.
- Google Fonts serves our text style, so it sees your IP address when the page loads.
- Google Maps links you paste: we read the coordinates from the link. Short links are opened once by our server to find where they point.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) receives the place name from a Google Maps link when the link has no coordinates in it (the Maps phone app often copies links like this), so it can find where the place is.
Your rights
Because we do not keep data that identifies you, there is normally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you think we hold something about you, write to trafixcast@gmail.com.
About the estimates
Trafixcast shows estimates based on historical patterns, schedules and reported data. Actual travel time may vary. Do not rely on it for time-critical travel.
